Campus to Healthcare Settings
The rapid rise of health issues and subsequent demand for healthcare providers to have expertise in areas such as population health, health policy, healthcare delivery systems, and interdisciplinary and integrated care has necessitated that medical and nursing graduates possess knowledge and skills beyond a thorough understanding of applied anatomy, pathophysiology, pharmacology, forensic medicine, medicine, obstetrics andgynecology, surgery, etc.
The Australian Medical Council (AMC) organizes the requirements for medical school graduation into four domains: traditional domains–‘‘science and scholarship’’ and ‘‘clinical practice’’–are now matched in emphasis with more modern domains of ‘‘health and society’’ and ‘‘professionalism and leadership.’’
The Medical Council of India aims at reformation of curriculum to orient students towards national health scenarios, medical ethics, health economics, learning skills and communication, life support, computer learning, sociology and demographics, biohazard safety, environmental issues and community problems.
The transition from “College to Healthcare” life is a challenge to most of medical, nursing and paramedical graduate.
